Good midafternoon! Time for a ceremonial cup of green or Matcha tea.
Bruce, my husband of 17 years, and I pause every midafternoon for a bowl of Matcha tea. I get the Japanese Matcha on Amazon as well as a one-time purchase of 2 beautiful hand crafted Matcha Bowls (cups). I put a bamboo teaspoonful in each cup followed by a bit of honey. Sometimes I add my second scoop of the day of protein.
All these divine ingredients are whisked with a Matcha Tea whisk. This can be ordered on amazon also. Order the 100-prong model and make sure you soak your new whisk in hot water to make it pliable, so the prongs do not break. I then add ¼ cup 175-degree hot water and whisk in a clockwise manner. Then side-to-side (this is the traditional way to whisk Matcha-side to side ).
I purchased a Morocco Milk Frother from Amazon. I put the instructed amount of almond milk into the frother while I am whisking the Matcha blend. When frothing is completed, I slowly pour it over the Matcha and water mixture and attempt to make a design with the frothed milk. A fine sprinkle of cinnamon goes on the surface.
We then toast one another while slowly sipping our tea together.
After this ceremonial tea ceremony, we go to the living room couch to meditate. Sometimes 5 minutes, 20 minutes, or a half hour or more. Depends on our time and what is going on in our lives. Now and then, when we feel overloaded, we see if we can fit in a longer meditation to get our lives in order. It just depends on what is going on in our life or the world.
When we are finished, Bruce usually goes back to work and I focus on some chair asanas and pranayama. If I can get in one asana and one breath, I feel accomplished.
We than are ready for a walk and then some dinner.
